In the 2011 Heisman Trophy award winner, Baylor defender Robert Griffin III, was announced as cover athlete for NCAA Football 13 from February 27, 2012. Barry Sanders appears on the cover alongside Robert Griffin III, he was chosen by fans of the list of previous winners of the Heisman Trophy Award. Other finalists in the voting included Marcus Allen, Doug Flutie, Eddie George, Desmond Howard, Herschel Walker, Charlie Ward and Andre Ware.
